A Few Facts On Candidiasis

At some point in their life or another the majority of the world's population will be affected by Candidiasis, also known as a yeast infection. When we hear the words "yeast infection" a lot of us think of it as a woman's problem. The reality is that anyone, young and old, man and female, can contract this fungal affliction on many places in or on the body. Hands, fingernails, toes, feet, and even under the breasts are just a few of the areas people can develop yeast infections. So now that we know that anybody can get a yeast infection virtually everywhere, it's critical to know just what a yeast infection is.

As the fungus grows and thrives on the body, the infection that results is called Candidiasis. Interestingly enough, the term "yeast infection" is not an entirely accurate description of the ailment. You see, fungus can develop into either a yeast form or a mold form. Fungus that happens singly is called yeast. As cells develop into a lot of groups it is known as mold. Normally, the body can fight off the yeast form of Candida albicans. You observe something is not right when the body begins to breakdown and the yeast forms into mold.

A fluid in the blood named serum developing mold causes Candida albicans. Upon touching the serum, yeast develops into mold and dispatches tubes from it's body called hyphe. The body breaks down when the hyphe encounter the cells by secreting poisonous fluid. The epidermis can be penetrated by the hyphe. This is so they can find more serum and thus produce more mold. If you have noticed an infection that can be seen, this infection has probably already happened.

Candida is the species of the fungus that is the source of yeast infections. The human body is not harmed by the majority of these but there are 100 kinds of Candida albicans and more than 100,000 types of fungus. A fungus has specific properties that make it similar but different from a plant or bacteria. It is almost a mixture of characteristics from plants and animals. Photosynthesis, the process plants undergo to turn sun rays to nutrition, is not a characteristic of fungus who doesn't depend on this. Much like a parasite, it acquires the nutrition from the elements around it. Fungi obtains its nutrients by secreting enzymes that decompose and break down tissue so it can be absorbed by the organism, a lot like a tick you might find hooked to you out in the forest. Damp places, soil, water, and instances of decay like in a rotting tree stump are all spots fungus naturally does well. Fungus needs oxygen to survive, just like plants and animals.

If all these facts make you a little squeamish, take comfort in knowing that most of the time with a bit of wisdom about what to do you can cure a yeast infection moderately easily implementing natural products. It is not generally a serious threat to someone's health, just a threat to someone's comfort, even though there are more severe cases. Do a bit of research and you should be capable of curing the infection and prevent it more in the future.
