What is the Deal with Anaerobics and What is it that makes it Good For Me?


Cardiovascular exercise is one of those things that anybody in the world needs to be a part of. For weel-being and a good quality of life, cardiovascular fitness is necessary no matter where you're from. Aspects of life can be improved in all kinds of various ways with it's diverse benefits. There are two kinds of cardiovascular activity: aerobic and anaerobic. Why is it necessary to do either one of these?

In general, anaerobic exercise ends up burning less calories than aerobic exercise does, but it does build muscle and lean body mass. As more energy is burned with muscle that replaces fat cells, muscle and lean body mass inceaseIncreased muscle mass leads to lost weight and a leaner figure as muscle groups burn more energy than fat cells. A shortage of oxygen to the muscles occurs when you start to exercise anaerobically. With anaerobic training the body can become better equipped to handle fatigue. As the fitness level rises, the body creates less lactic acid and the elimination of it from the blood becomes more efficient. With fortified muscles, the groups can operate from 12% - fifty percent more productively, allowing the body to gain higher levels of lactic acid during activities. The lactic acid that is produced is what causes muscle fatigue. The lactic acid produced must be used up during a rest period before more anaerobic exercise is attempted. The muscles use oxygen to restore the energy burned during anaerobics. Lactic acid removal can become more efficient with training. Running, hill climbing, jumping rope, and sprinting are activities that need great spurts of energy and are examples of anaerobic activity.

Action that is lower in intensity and greater in time span is called aerobic exercise. The term aerobic means with air or with oxygen. Aerobic exercise is done to train the body to be more active for increased periods of time. It is often called endurance training or cross training. Some aerobic exercises are; walking, jogging, cycling, or swimming. A good quantity of oxygen is needed to produce the energy for these activities and maintain the body’s stamina. Good health and enhanced performance requires aerobic activity.

Anaerobic activity is not the same as aerobics in that it is more often done in a shorter amount of time at a greater intensity. The word anaerobic means without air or without oxygen. A substance known as lactic acid is produced by the body as it is worked in really hard activities. If aerobic exercise is done to enhance endurance, anaerobic activity is to raise strength for spots when big amounts of energy are necessary in a small time.

Anaerobic activity is generally for those who have already achieved a certain level of fitness and are attempting to raise speed, agility, and power. Participants should do a fair amount of aerobics warming up and muscle stretching previous to and after an anaerobic exercise session. It is not recommended to participate in anaerobic exercise if you are pregnant. Also, if you are a novice to physical activity, you should begin at about fifty percent intensity rate for your particular fitness level.
