Women's Acne Solutions

A skin condition that many people suffer from is acne. The following is some advice for the 50% of women suffering from adult acne.

All the women who have acne know how difficult it can be to go without any good cures. Rest assured; you are not alone. Over fifty percent of adult females still suffer from some type of adult acne long after the typical teen years.. If you are a female who feels like you can't do anything, know that in any situation, there is an acne cure available for you.

One route is a prescribed medication named Accutane. It is a concentrated form of vitamin A. Vitamin A is an effective nutrient that strengthens the protective tissues in the skin. Accutane helps slows the production of oil while maintaining the health of important cells. Hair follicles become clogged when there is an over production of oil. Accutane is a very useful product for acne treatment, but has some side effects. It should only be used if all safe methods have been exhausted.

Women have hormonal changes multiple times in their lives. If you are suffering from a recent acne outbreak, it could be contributed to the hormones changing in your body.. Acne can be a result of the hormone testosterone, which is produced when a person has abnormal androgen levels.

For small amounts of acne, a number of over-the-counter products are available such as Clearasil or Proactiv solution. Most of the OTC products contain an antibacterial cleaning combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Most of these tend to cost less and be very effective with mild acne.

For severe or continual hormone imbalances, you may consider talking to a physician about hormone treatments. If hormonal imbalance is the source of your skin condition, a doctor can help identify the problems. If you have an extreme case of acne, hormone treatment is the best solution. The therapy forbids the androgens from stimulating the oil glands, creating less oil that can cause clogged pores and hair follicles. A blood test and often prescriptions are involved with hormone treatments, so it is only available through a doctor. They can be very effective treatments, however, even to the extent of stopping the acne before it even occurs.

Some turn to the use of birth control medication for acne treatment by way of hormone adjustment. This method isn't always the most effective, but can work very well along with other types of treatment. As always it is best to talk to a physician before using any type of acne treatment. Always follow all regulations on treatments to avoid complications.

It is always important to remember, if you are going to use a medication other that OTC drugs you need to see a physician first. Professional advice is needed to find the right treatment for you.
