A Few Truths Pertaining to Yeast Infections

At some point in their life the majority of the world's people will be affected by Candidiasis, also called a yeast infection. When we hear the words "yeast infection" a lot of us think of it as a woman's affliction. The reality is that anybody, young and mature, man and female, can contract this fungal affliction on lots of places in or on the body. Hands, fingernails, toes, feet, and even around the breasts are just some of the areas people can get yeast infections. So now that we know that anyone can come down with a yeast infection virtually anywhere, it's important to know just what a yeast infection is.

Candida albicans is the species of the fungus that is the source of yeast infections. There are as many as a hundred different kinds of Candida and over 100,000 types of fungus, but the human body normally isn't affected by the majority of these. Bacterias and plants have resembling properties that vary from fungus. It is kind of a combination of characteristics from both plants and animals. Photosynthesis, the process plants go through to change sunlight to nutrition, is not a characteristic of fungus who doesn't rely on this. A lot like a parasite, it acquires the nutrition from the elements around it. Fungi obtains its nutrients by secreting enzymes that decompose and break down tissue so that it can be absorbed by the organism, similar to a tick you might find hooked to you out in the woods. Fungus usually thrives in dirt, water and damp areas, and instances of decay, such as a rotting tree stump. Fungus has to have oxygen to survive, just like plants and animals.

A substance found in the blood named serum developing mold causes Candida albicans. Upon touching the serum, yeast transforms into mold and transmits tentacles from it's body named hyphe. The body breaks down when the hyphe encounter the cells by dispensing poisonous fluid. The hyphe can be driven into the epidermis. This is so they can find more serum and thus make more mold. If you have noticed an infection that can be seen, this infection has probably already occurred.

Candidiasis is the result of fungus increasing and flourishing in the body. Interestingly enough, the term "yeast infection" is not an entirely accurate description of the affliction. You see, fungus can develop into either a yeast form or a mold form. Fungus that happens singly is called yeast. Mold happens when multiple groups of fungi cells form. A yeast infection can usually be fought off by the body's natural defenses. when the yeast forms into mold that the body begins to react and we observe that something is not right.
