Purchasing the lipstick is the first thing.Try using pigments that are adaptable with a variety of appearances and outfits. When testing out the potential lipstick, do not try it out on your lips. It's unsanitary. Instead, try it on the fingers; they're the nearest match to your lips. If you find you have a little of your most used pigment at the bottom of the tube you can take the rest out and store it in a small plastic storage jar. Use the applicator from the old storage jar when you have to reapply.

Before applying the lipstick, use a lip liner. If you coat your lips with lip liner it will help the application of lipstick last longer. Make sure the liner pigment matches with the lipstick. Dark liner with a light color lipstick looks bad. When a woman is applying a clearer color lipstick, accompany it with a nude color liner. Mix the lipstick on top of the lip liner after you have outlined the lips. If you find youself with no blush, lipstick may be used. But never substitute blush as lipstick, it doesn't do well.

Creamier lipsticks are suggested for older ladies. They should stay away from lipsticks that are matte or shiny and stick to duller, more neutral hues. Orange and brown shaded lipsticks should be avoided. The teeth can appear to be colored yellow if it smears on your teeth. You can keep the excess lipstick off your teeth by putting your middle finger in your mouth, purse your lips around it, and pulling out. The extra lipstick will wipe off on the finger and keep your teeth white and shiny.

When ladies put on the liner to their lips before the lipstick it can flake up and fall off quickly. Licking the edge of a cup before they touch their lips to it is good for ladies wearing lipstick. This will keep your lipstick from smearing on the side of the glass. Don't forget that liner will make gloss last much longer than being unaccompanied.

Try mixing some lipsticks for a whole new hue if you find your usual choice of lipsticks wrong for the look or clothes you are going for that day. Begin with a matte as a foundation and top it off with a bright or glossy colored lipstick. You may need a touch of another color so don't dispose of your old bad colors. When women have big lips they apply liner just outside their natural lip line and put a little amount of gloss in the center of their lower lip.
