Wanting to Lose the Pounds? Start Having Three Meals Every Day!

People in the United States, and people in all countries, battle with obesity in some degree. In the last couple years people have come to notice a genuine issue that many Americans are suffering from. The issue is obesity and it is more regular today than ever. Why are there so many of us getting overweight? Increasing amounts of manufactured and processed foods, gigantic meal sizes, and sedentary lifestyles are all influencing factors in why this country now fight with being overweight. As we strive to create a solution to this huge issue, serious debates about diet and exercise have come with it. In the field of diet, it has been an argument for a long time between doctors and scientists on both sides about how often you should eat.

To help the metabolism stay consistent stay away from snaking on unhealthy foods, it is imperative that you consume a minimum of 3 whole meals everyday. You don't have to gorge yourself three times everyday, it just means to control your caloric intake by time not by going by your body's hunger. To instantly reduce the amount of calories consumed everyday it is recommended to cut out unhealthy drinks like soda and coffee, this will help and show instant results.

Most physicians and scientists agree that to miss a meal or more than one is not helpful to one's overall health. Our metabolism will respond to our diet and intake of calories. If our body is getting plenty of food and nutrients, our metabolism is willing to use calories as it normally would. When you remove a meal or multiple meals, you are telling your metabolism that there is a shortage of food and that it should start saving energy. This is the reason some people become fatigued and grumpy when we don't eat. The argument of how many meals we should consume will go on for a long time, however the most important thing to focus on is eating the right amount and at the right times for your metabolism.

On the subject of how often we should eat, most experts say that it matters less when you eat and more on total caloric intake. If we all had a meal when hungry nobody would maintain the same eating habits. Everyone knows that old adage that breakfast is the most valuable meal of the day. So why is it the one that everybody skips? Breakfast is important to get the metabolism going in the morning so that it is always using calories all day and doesn't go into hibernation mode throughout the afternoon. Also, if you skip breakfast you are more likely to be very hungry when you finally do get a chance to eat and will consume too much food. For those of us who don't eat breakfast you should try eating healthy foods that you are most likely missing out on. Fruits, low-fat dairy products, and whole grains are nutritious foods that are not too filling and will help with activity level all day.

One view of some health professionals is to eat five to six small meals everyday to prevent constant hunger. The theory is that if you are able to consume little amounts more frequently you won't snack on junk foods because you need nutritional supplement every few hours. turning to fat. Consuming to much at any given meal will actually do just the opposite because the body will turn the extra calories left over into fat. Those of us won't eat all day long then fill up at night are practicing a very bad eating habit. This is a bad surprise to the metabolism because it is dormant all day then all of a sudden forced to process a huge meal. This is what causes some people feel so lazy after having dinner at night.

In a recent study, British scientists found that females that skipped breakfast tended to eat more food throughout the day to make up for the period of fasting. These women had higher levels of cholesterol than females who ate a healthy breakfast each morning. Also, women who eat breakfast tended to eat fewer high calorie snacks throughout the day to make up for the body's hunger. The less full a person is the more likely they are to eat snacks and foods that are more readily available and these usually have little or no nutritional value.
