That doesn't necessarily mean to gorge yourself three times everyday, it just means to maintain your caloric intake by time instead of going by your body's hunger. Cutting out snacks and unhealthy drinks such as sodas, sports drinks, and coffee will bring down your caloric intake by hundreds of calories a day.

One view of some experts is to consume five to six small meals everyday to help relieve constant hunger. Because we need consistent nutritional supplements it is ideal to consume a planned healthy meal every few hours rather than unhealthy snacks. Another reason this is better is because the we can only use so many nutrients at any given time so all the food over this amount is working against you. If you tend to consume too much at a meal, it will be added to your body as unwanted fat because the body has an excess of calories. There is nothing more harmful you can do than skip meals all day and eat a big dinner. Basically, your metabolism is in hibernation all day and then is overloaded with too many food at one time. You can feel sleepy and sluggish for up to several hours after eating a big meal like this at dinner.

Most doctors and scientists believe that to miss a meal or more than one meal is not beneficial to one's overall health. The metabolism will react to our diet and intake of food. If our bodies are receiving plenty of food and nutrients, our metabolism feels safe expending calories as it normally would. The body will go through a natural reaction to a shortage of food and will slow the metabolism to help save energy while it has a shortage. This is why some people get tired and irritable when we don't eat. The argument on the amount of meals we should eat will go on for a long time, but the best thing to focus on is eating the right amount and at the right times for your metabolism.

It has been proven by experts that women eat more high calorie foods throughout the day if they don't eat breakfast. This also resulted in a higher level of cholesterol than the people tested who eat healthy in the mornings. This is because the females that choose to skip a meal in the morning eat more unhealthy high calorie snacks to make up for the loss. The less full a person is the more likely they will be constantly grazing on snacks and foods that are more readily available and these usually have little or no nutritional value.
