A Few Truths That Have to Do With Candidiasis

At some point in their life the majority of the earth's people will be affected by Candidiasis, also called a yeast infection. When we hear the words "yeast infection" many of us think of it as a woman's problem. The fact is that everyone, young and old, man and female, can contract this fungal infection on many places in or on the body. People most often develop yeast infections on their hands and fingernails, on the feet and toes, and in other various areas where the skin is exposed to extra moisture and darkness, like the underarm area or, in ladies, the place around or beneath the breasts. So now that we know that anybody can come down with a yeast infection virtually everywhere, it's important to know just what a yeast infection is.

As the fungus grows and thrives on the body, the infection that results is known as Candidiasis. Interestingly enough, the term "yeast infection" is not an entirely accurate description of the affliction. You see, fungus can form into either a yeast or a mold form. Yeast is when single cell growth occurs in the fungus. As cells form into a lot of groups it is known as mold. Normally, the human body can fight off the yeast form of Candida albicans. You notice something is not right when the body starts to react and the yeast develops into mold.

Mold forms when the yeast Candida albicans touches serum, a fluid in the blood. Upon contact with the serum, yeast transforms into mold and dispatches tentacles from the body called hyphe. This hyphe is the part that dispenses the toxic liquid that breaks down cells in the body. The hyphe can penetrate the skin. This is so they can find more serum and thus produce more mold. The infection has already happened by the time you see an infection.

Yeast infections are caused by a type of fungus called Candida albicans. The human body isn't harmed by the majority of these but there are one-hundred types of Candida albicans and over 100,000 categories of fungus. Bacterias and plants have coincidental properties that differ from fungus. It is kind of a mixture of aspects from plants and animals. Though it definitely resembles a plant more, it does not depend on the sunlight for the gathering of nutrients, or the process called photosynthesis. A lot like a parasite, it acquires the nutrition from the environment around it. Similar to a chigger you may find hooked to you in the woods, fungi absorbs nutrition by decomposing tissue and secreting enzymes to destroy it. Fungus naturally thrives in dirt, water and damp areas, and instances of decay, such as a rotting tree stump. Just like plants and animals, fungi has to have oxygen to survive.

The good news is that using natural remedies you can generally cure a yeast infection. There are of course more severe cases, but usually a yeast infection isn't a severe risk to our health; it's just a real threat to our comfort. Do a little research and people should be able to cure the infection and prevent it more in the future.
