How Often Should I Eat to Drop the Weight?

More and more Americans, as well as people all over the world, battle with obesity in some degree. In the last few years people have come to notice a genuine issue that numerous people are suffering from. Its obesity and its one of the most common issues in our community today. What is creating the obesity outbreak? People today are continuously eating large portions of terrible foods and not working out as much as recommended. It appears like there should be an easy solution to this problem, however it has created much confusion about working out and diet. In the diet category, it has been an argument for many years now between physicians and scientists on all sides about how frequently a person is supposed to eat.

One view of some experts is to consume 5 or 6 small meals a day to prevent constant hunger. The theory is that if you are able to consume small amounts more frequently you won't snack because you need nutritional supplement every couple of hours. It has also been theorized that the body can only absorb so many nutrients and so much food at any given time. Eating large amounts at any given meal will actually do just the opposite because the body will create fat with the excess calories. The worst thing you can do is skip eating all day and eat a big dinner. Basically, your metabolism is in hibernation all day and then is overloaded with a large amount of food at once. This is what causes some people feel so tired after eating dinner at night.

Skipping meals is one thing that all professionals will admit is very bad for your health. The metabolism will react to our diet and intake of food. The metabolism only operates at the standard rate when it feels that the body has consumed a safe amount of calories. When you don't eat a meal or multiple meals, you are telling your metabolism that there is a shortage of food and that it needs to start saving energy. This can cause tiredness, a drop in functionality, and possibly irritability. So is the answer to have smaller meals more frequently? It is likely an argument that will go on for some time, because the main factor that determines how many calories to consume everyday is individual metabolism.

To make sure that the metabolism remains consistent stay away from snaking on unhealthy foods, it is important to consume at least 3 whole meals a day. You don't need to force down all the calories you can consume 3 times everyday, just eat a little meal barely enough to get full and do not snack before and after the three designated meals. Cutting out snacks and high calorie drinks such as sodas, sports drinks, and coffee (with cream and sugar of course) will bring down your caloric intake by hundreds of calories a day.

Focusing on caloric intake instead of how often is more valuable in the eyes of some professionals. If youonly eat when you feel hungry it may be two meals a day or four. Most people who like to eliminate meals choose to skip breakfast, and this is the most important meal in the diet Breakfast is important to boost your metabolism in the morning so that it is always burning calories all day and doesn't go into hibernation mode throughout the afternoon. Also, if you skip breakfast you are more vulnerable to be very hungry when you will be able to eat and will eat too much food. If you normally don't eat breakfast, try getting into the habit of consuming things that the body needs that we normally wouldn't eat enough of during the day anyway. To get great energy from foods with low calories eat low fat dairy products and whole grains any chance you get.

It has been proven by experts that women consume more high calorie foods during the day if they don't eat breakfast. This also resulted in a higher level of cholesterol than those who eat healthy in the mornings. Also, females who had breakfast tended to eat fewer high calorie snacks throughout the day to make up for the body's hunger. The hungrier a person is the more likely they are to eat snacks and foods that are easy to get and these usually have little or no nutritional value.
