Acne is a common skin condition that plagues many people worldwide. If you are an adult female, here are some tips on reducing acne outbreaks.

All the women who have a skin condition know how difficult it can be to go without any helpful treatments. Rest assured; you are not alone. Over fifty percent of adult females still suffer from some type of skin condition long past the typical teen years.. It is important to understand that no matter what, you can find a skin care medicine that will work for your face.

One route is a prescribed medication called Accutane. It's a concentrated form of vitamin A. Vitamin A is an effective nutrient that strengthens the protective tissues in the skin. Accutane helps slows the production of sebum while maintaining the health of important cells. When the body produces too much sebum, the hair follicles can become clogged. Accutane should be used when other treatments have been tried and failed because it has some side effects such as possible difficulties during pregnancy or birth defects.

One option may be birth control medication. Hormonal pills such as Estrostep are standard prescriptions that often help stop acne outbreaks. They are not always 100% effective in clearing up acne and at times must be used in combination with other forms of treatment. As always it is important to ask a physician before using any type of skin care treatment. Always follow all regulations on treatments to avoid complications.

Women go through hormonal changes many times in their lives. If you are suffering from a recent acne outbreak, it may be because of hormone changes going on in your body.. When the body has a high androgen amounts, the hormone known as testosterone, can cause acne outbreaks in the female body.

For small amounts of acne, many over-the-counter products are available like Clearasil or Proactiv solution. Most of the OTC products contain an antibacterial cleaning combination of benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Most of these tend to be less expensive and very effective with mild acne.

If you are suffering from major imbalances you should visit a dermatologist for hormone adjustments. A doctor will can diagnose the problem if it if hormone related. If you have an extreme case of acne, hormone treatment is the best solution. Hormone Treatments help stop the hair follicles from being filled with oil by reducing the stimulation from androgens. Commonly testing and medication is involved with a hormone treatment, so it must be administered by a dermatologist. In some cases these treatments can work so well that the acne will disappear before it starts.

It is always important to remember, if you are going to use a medication other that OTC drugs you need to visit a doctor first. Professional advice is best to find the best treatment for you.
