Perks

If you have a blog and, unlike me, you are not interviewing with law firms nearly every evening next week, don't miss this chance to get access to a special blogger-screening of Serenity, Joss Whedon's movie that picks up where his awesome Firefly series left off.

The downside of this is that it means I may have to stop reading blogs for a day or two before I see the movie so as to avoid spoilers.

Apres Kelo

In about an hour, Professor Nicole Garnett of Notre Dame and Professor Tom Merrill of Columbia will be debating whether or not Kelo was an apocalypse for private property here at the Law School. There is some possibility that we will get a recording online, but in any case I will be blogging it over at Originalisms.

UPDATE: Voila.

Diffugere nives...

As it happens every year, we're waning down to the last hours of summer, and fall, with its apples, chases behind. Kodos gratiasque Amandam ago, indeed.

'Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming all alone,
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.
No flower of her kindred,
No rose bud is nigh,
To reflect back her blushes,
Or give sigh for sigh.

I'll not leave thee, thou lone one,
To pine on the stem;
Since the lovely are sleeping,
Go sleep thou with them;
'Thus kindly I scatter
Thy leaves o'er the bed
Where thy mates of the garden
Lie scentless and dead.

So soon may I follow
When friendships decay,
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away!
When true hearts lie withered
And fond ones are flown
Oh! who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?
